I don't know about the cactus but on the rest of the C4 range they come in 1.6 and 2.0l flavours. Cactus seems to be a good deal and I've haven't heard anything bad. Frugal on both gas and diesel. HDi = advanced diesel engine. I'd just get the petrol, they come with and without turbo.
